The Re-Scheduled Central Pro Am Tournament on Lake of the Ozarks is still scheduled to take place January 18 & 19.

WEATHER PERMITTING.

The event originally scheduled for December on 2013 was moved to January due to a winter storm.

“As of this morning water temperatures are in the low to mid 30’s, there is a lot of ice in many of the coves, the upper end of the lake and river arms.” Mike Webb CPAA owner reported. “There is a significant warming trend heading into the area and it appears some of the ice will melt over the next few days.”

The short term forecast calls for high temperatures in the 40’s and lows in the 20’s for the Lake of the Ozarks area.

“The weather looks good for next week as of right now, our concern is the tournament weekend.” Webb added “Long range forecasts show a cold front moving into the area on Friday before the event and the tournament weekend forecast highs  below freezing both days with dangerous wind chill readings.”

CPAA officials will monitor the long range forecast and  ice situation and announce a decision on the tournament by Friday 1/10/14 at 5:00 pm. The decision will be posted on the Central Pro Am News page ( here ) and on Facebook by 5:00 pm. Friday.

“We want to make the decision as early as possible so none of our anglers incur any expense of pre-fishing this weekend.”  Webb stated. “Please bear with us while we make this decision, our greatest concern is for the safety and well being of our anglers.”

  1. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for above freezing temps! I’m getting cabin fever already and need to get out!

Thank you for making safety the top priority for all of us. As anxious as I am to get back on the water, below freezing water and air temperatures are very dangerous. Personally, I would prefer the 100 degree heat in July or August over the freezing cold any day! I also really appreciate you making a decision as early as possible.
